I worked with a team of highly-enthusiastic volunteers as the IT/web chairman of the Social Justice Student Leadership Conference at UC Berkeley. I built and designed the front end to the website based on input and recommendations from the conference staff.
After the initial design stages, I customized and installed WordPress and stuck the design on top as a custom WordPress theme. I trained the staff members on how to work with WordPress to update content.
In addition to the CMS customization, I also used CakePHP (a framework for PHP) to custom-build a user registration and payment system from scratch. I created an easy-to-use (and administer) interface for conference guests to submit and edit their details as well as receive an automatically generated PDF invoice.
The registration system emailed conference staff when new people registered and kept a log of administration actions.
