I like to use the word “contagious” as a way of describing the new web. Remember webrings? The new age web ring comes in many forms — RSS feeds, trackbacks, those “share this story” links that are downright everywhere but only seem to be used by those moms and uncles and businessmen who have no better method of sharing their most-recently visited web page of interest.
While one can’t directly measure a web site’s worth by how popular it is, popular web sites certainly must be doing something right. And with increased interconnectivity on the web (by definition a web is connected, right?), the more popular a web site is, the more contagious it is!

There are a ton of sites similar to Mediacrafters online. Personal blogs. Portfolios. Designer resources. I know. We’re nothing original around here. But we are an outlet and a distribution method. So you readers, all one or two of you who find yourselves interested enough to delve into the pages of this here scratchpad, hopefully can pick up something useful around here.

Designing anything is a non-iterative, highly creative process. Sometimes, the best research a designer can do is to browse in a nonchalant fashion. This process could come in the form of flipping the pages of a design magazine or book, but most people will find themselves middle-clicking like there’s no tomorrow in their browsers.

So why’d this one end up winning? Come on, you should be able to guess.
